The Promise of Paradise

What do you love ?

What is it that your heart longs for?

What is it that brings you joy?

Think about the things that make you happy. Anything in the world. It could be your family and friends. It could be delicious food. It could be a nice car, a beautiful house. It could be anything.

Now picture this.

You are at the gates of Jannah and you hear the angels greet you,

“Peace be upon you for what you patiently endured. And excellent is the final home.” {Surah Ar-Rad verse 24}

You then take your first step into paradise, into eternal bliss. You feel relief. You feel tranquility envelop you. Never again will you have to feel heartbroken, sad, depressed, anxious or afraid. In Jannah, there is only what brings joy to the heart. There is only peace and happiness. Only pure and good things are found in this pure and good place.

Home. You have returned home. The place your soul can finally rest. The struggle against yourself is over. The struggle to purify your heart is over. You have passed the test of Life. And for the believers who enter paradise, there is a generous reward as promised by Allah.

“They will have whatever they wish therein, and with Us is more.” {Surah Qaf verse 35}

In Jannah you can have anything you want, anything you wish for. If your heart desires it, Allah will make it happen.

Now imagine, you are in paradise, a place where there is so much to experience and enjoy. But who will you share it with? You will begin to remember your loved ones. People you cared about in this life. There is a beautiful comfort in knowing that in Jannah, you will be reunited with the people who had a special place in your heart. You will be with the people who used to support you, remind you to do good and encourage you to remember Allah. As the saying goes, true love never dies. And the sincere, most pure form of love is love for the sake of Allah. A love that was sustained as a result of the love you had for Allah. A divine love which begins in this life and continues in the next, never to be cut off. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:

“You will be with those whom you love.” (Sahih al-Bukhari, Vol. 8, Book 73, Hadith 190)

Doesn’t that fill your heart with joy? You will be with who you love.

As Muslims, our prophets and the righteous people who came before us have a special place in our hearts. They dedicated their lives to teaching us Islam and what it means to be a Muslim.

When we hear stories of the Prophets, our love and respect for them grows. We learn about their sacrifices and their struggles. How can we not love our prophets who suffered for many years so that we could hear the message of Islam? They wanted to save us from the Hellfire. They were calling us to Paradise.

In Jannah, you will be in the company of our beloved prophets (peace and blessings be upon them all). You will be in the company of the best people to walk the face of the Earth. You will be with Asiyah, Aisha, Maryam and Fatima (peace be upon them all). You will be with our Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him).

Can you imagine the joy of meeting these beautiful, righteous people who we looked up to as role models and leaders during our lives? Wouldn’t it be amazing to listen to their stories, to hear about the struggles they faced and how they overcame them? We could speak to them for hours and there would be no rush, for in Jannah we are not limited by time as we are in this world. If you were to meet a famous person in this life, how happy would you feel? Now, how much happier would you feel if you were to meet those who are famous in the heavens? It would be a great honour.

Whenever you need motivation to do good deeds, remind yourself of this verse of the Quran:

And no soul knows what has been hidden for them of comfort for eyes as reward for what they used to do. {Surah As-Sajdah verse 17}

Allah has prepared Paradise for the believers. If we follow His guidance, He will show us the way to our final home. He will guide us to the place where our souls will find the contentment and peace we have always been longing for in this life. I hope that you find comfort in the promise of Allah. May Allah forgive us, guide us and reunite us with our loved ones in Paradise. Ameen.♥️
